VoIP

VoIP stands for Voice over internet protocol. This can be done over mobile phones or computers as long as they have access to the internet or for instants the mobile will need 3G so it can use the internet. You may also use the landline but if you are using the landline you will have to make sure that the phone is plugs into the modem. When using VoIP it i9s free but you VoIP provider may charge you for their services; this may be monthly or buy the minute or they may just charge you to sign up. The disadvantages about this are if your internet connection or VoIP service provider is temporarily unavailable then call cannot be made. If your internet connection is slow then the whole conversation will be delay due to this fault.

IM

IM stands for instant messaging this is a form of real time messaging between two or more people. Instant messaging services are things like texting, Blackberry messenger, WATS app, Facebook also have a sort IM service. Quick and easy is they reason that many people use instant messaging and if you are using IM it is mostly free unless you are texting then you service providers charges texting fees. Some instant messaging services are free like WATS app you just have to download it on you mobile and it is free but you have to have and internet connection.

Desktop computer
A Desktop computer is a computer that has to remain in one place when operating. It is bigger than any other type of computer. Every computer has a CPU which means central processing unit. The CPU is the main brain of the computer. The main part of the computer is the tower which contains everything. Many things can be connected to the tower things like a monitor, a mouse, a keyboard and printers etc.

 Laptop

The main difference between a desktop is that the laptop is portable and can be taken anywhere. The desktop computer takes power from the mains where as you have to charge a laptop whenever it runs out. The laptop contains the same things as a desktop you can create word document and surf the internet.

Netbook

These are made primarily for surfing the internet and checking emails. The hard drive is much smaller than a computers and a laptops so this makes the weaker than the two. This does not contain an optical disk drive. All netbooks on the market are equipped with Wi-Fi and are able to use mobile broadband. These are much smaller than a laptop.

PDA

PDA stands for personal digital assistant. This is a small hand held device that can be used to call people and send text messages to people. This is a phone and a computer built into one so that it is convenient for business men

mobiles phones are owned by many people in the world. they are used for many things the most common is to keep in touch with people via the phone or sms feature on the hand held device. Different age groups will use the mobile for different things meaning that the younger generation will use it for surfing the internet and using social networks along side sending texts and making phone calls. the older generation might just use the mobile for sending and receiving texts and calls they may not use the internet service because they might be less technologically accomplished compared to the younger generation. Because of all the features the battery life is reduced because you are using the internet and thing are left running in the background. when mobile phones are designed the battery has been considered and they have thought about how they can maximize the battery life. they first thing they think of is the audience of the mobile and who is going to use it. when the target market is thought of then they can mold the the phone around them. There are three types of mobile phones in on the market. The first is a fashion phone are phones that are made to look great but they tend to be awkward to use. These types phones are fitted with large screens with hd display and amazing cameras and the ability to store large amounts of data. The next is business phone; these phones are designed with business people in mind. These mobiles are made slim with full qwerty keyboard and a large screen. these will have features like loud speaker and the ability to connect with computers or net books. multifunctional mobile phone will combine the business and fashion mobile together. So they look good and have practicality. These phones have features like television taken from the fashion phone and voice activated dialing which is taken from the business phone. There are many phones on the market but there are not many for elderly people. this is why many elderly people have mobiles. on the whole mobile phones are a very powerful tool that can be used by many people.
Transferring images between mobile phones is not as complicated as it sounds. you can either do it using wireless technology or you can use wires. When using wires the transfer might be faster compared to wireless file transfers. The main wireless way method is Bluetooth this is because it is found on a majority of modern mobile phones.

When saving an image there are many options available to save it as. The most common is the JPEG because this is a default setting on a computer. bellow i have looked at all the different options and explained what they do.

JPEG – (joint Photographic Expert Group) this is a format of saving images. Nearly every digital camera saves its images as a jpeg. The amount of compression can affect the visual quality of the image.

Monochrome bitmap – This save the image in a black and white format as a rectangular grid of pixels.

16 colour bitmap – this saves it as a bitmap but only with 16 colours i you look at the JPEG you can that the quality has dropped

256 colour bitmap – this will save it as a bitmap using 256 colours

24-bit bitmap – in 24 bitmap images are stored upside down so instead of being Red Green Blue they are stored Blue Green Red.

GIF - A GIF image is a compacted version of an original image based on a smaller palette of colours.

TIFF – TIFF is a bitmap file format that was specifically developed for page layout applications and is supported by all image editing applications. The TIFF format supports RGB(Red , CMYK, and grayscale and bitmap (black and white) files.

PNG – this type of image can be used over all formats of computer and is considered to be better than JPEG. This type of image makes the image transparent but keeping the true colour.

This spread sheet show how much an iPhone 5 costs over the period of the contract and what the contract offers. You would probably be looking for is to get the cheapest one over the life of the contract. The cheapest one I found was with T mobile and that was for £917.00 over an 18 month period. The one that offers unlimated tariffs and is the cheapest is the T mobile contract that is priced at £1203.00 over the period of the contract. I managed to find all prices on the providers website.
