When saving an image there are many options available to save it as. The most common is the JPEG because this is a default setting on a computer. bellow i have looked at all the different options and explained what they do.

JPEG – (joint Photographic Expert Group) this is a format of saving images. Nearly every digital camera saves its images as a jpeg. The amount of compression can affect the visual quality of the image.

Monochrome bitmap – This save the image in a black and white format as a rectangular grid of pixels.

16 colour bitmap – this saves it as a bitmap but only with 16 colours i you look at the JPEG you can that the quality has dropped

256 colour bitmap – this will save it as a bitmap using 256 colours

24-bit bitmap – in 24 bitmap images are stored upside down so instead of being Red Green Blue they are stored Blue Green Red.

GIF - A GIF image is a compacted version of an original image based on a smaller palette of colours.

TIFF – TIFF is a bitmap file format that was specifically developed for page layout applications and is supported by all image editing applications. The TIFF format supports RGB(Red , CMYK, and grayscale and bitmap (black and white) files.

PNG – this type of image can be used over all formats of computer and is considered to be better than JPEG. This type of image makes the image transparent but keeping the true colour.
